ayControl KNX Profile-Import via Email, Dropbox and Wi-Fi

Good-bye travel expenses! Convenient and Efficient E-Mail Import

While other KNX visualisations often require long journeys for changing small things, with ayControl KNX you can save such nasty travel expenses! If you received your ayControl profile via E-mail (either as direct attachment or as a download link to Dropbox or other file servers), then follow these steps in order to load the profile into ayControl KNX:

ayControl for iOS
  • Open the E-mail in the E-mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • If the profile was sent as attachment: Tap on the profile file with the file extension “.a3z”. The file might have to be downloaded first; if this is the case, please wait until the download is complete and tap on the file again.
  • If the profile was sent as link: Tap on the link and download the profile file.
  • A window pops up showing a list of apps which can open the profile file. Tap on “ayControl 3″.
ayControl for Android
  • Open the E-mail in the E-mail app on your Android device.
  • If the profile was sent as attachment: Tap on the profile file with the file extension “.a3z”. The file might have to be downloaded first; if this is the case, please wait until the download is complete and tap on the file again.
  • If the profile was sent as link: Tap on the link and download the profile file.
  • A dialog pops up, asking you whether you want to import the profile. Tap on “Yes”.

The ayControl app is started and loads the profile.

Quick Import via Wi-Fi transfer from the ayControl Editor

You also can import a profile directly from the computer where the ayControl Editor is running (e.g. your ayControl sales partner’s PC or Mac). For this it is required that both your iOS or Android device and the computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Use the Check and Transfer Profile menu in the ayControl Editor to check the profile against the installed ayControl Upgrade Package, then click on Wi-Fi transfer.

ayControl for iOS
  • Tap on the menu symbol to open the ayControl settings dialog.
  • Tap on the menu entry “Profiles”, then on “Wi-Fi import”.
  • Activate the switch “Wi-Fi import service”.
  • If the Wi-Fi network supports IP Multicast then the iOS device will be found in the ayControl Editors Transfer Profile dialogue.
  • If the Wi-Fi network doesn’t support IP multicast use the “Connect manually” function and enter the IP of the mobile device.
ayControl for Android
  • Press the menu button (or tap the menu soft key on devices without hardware buttons) to open the ayControl settings dialog.
  • Tap on the menu entry “Import profile”.
  • Tap on the button “Transfer mode”.
  • If the Wi-Fi network supports IP Multicast then the Android device will be found in the ayControl Editors Transfer Profile dialogue.
  • If the Wi-Fi network doesn’t support IP multicast use the “Connect manually” function and enter the IP of the mobile device.

Now the profile can be transferred from the ayControl Editor to the mobile device.
